The way I see it is that we all have one life and we should at least try to live it how we want it.
This is why I made my decision over six years ago in my last year of high school. I decided to move to the UK.
Few people didn't take my decision as positively. I remember when someone asked me: Where is the patriotism? Why are you leaving the sinking boat?
With all the respect I'm sorry to say that I don't feel any guiltiness.
Besides, I am delighted to say that I have never been happier.
I am very grateful ever since I had the chance, braveness, and support to jump into this new.
Now I'm lucky enough to call it my home.
Why England?
I started studying English when I was in primary school or at least I had lessons, and I was looking for something not too far away from my family. The UK seems to be perfect. So I planned my whole senior year around my trip, and I purchased a one- way ticket on my birthday in April. I moved to the UK from Hungary in August just after my graduation.
After six years this country has become more than just an adventure abroad, it is my home now.
Love being a part of this country!
Reality had truly lived up to my expectations here.
As I have noted above, now I am glad I picked the UK.
Why do I love it so much?
Food
You can get any cuisine any time you want in Manchester. It's like a paradise for anyone who loves to try new dishes out. ME!
Not to mention the traditional British dishes like full breakfast, the Christmas dinner, the Sunday roast, chicken pie, shepherd's pie, and bangers and mash.
I feel super hungry now!
Confidence
I also love being here because of the people.
They follow their heart, dare to wear what they want, and they stand up for themselves. They only listen to those who matter, and they ignore the others.
I used to be awkwardly shy around people I just met but since I have been living in this country people helped here to shape my self for the woman I'm today.
I don't say it doesn't happen anymore, but most definitely I'm on the right way to get over my weakness.
I am sorry to say that where I am from people care more about other's opinion instead of listening to their thoughts.
When you walk around the city, you can see many different nationalities, couples, outfits, hairstyles, that you cannot find in Hungary.
It is an open mind country where you can be who you are!
The countryside
If you follow my blog regularly, you know that I'm from a small village in Hungary and even though we live very close to one of the largest city in the UK I feel overly happy when we have a chance to visit the countrysides. British countrysides are so charming.
Green rolling hills, cobbled streets lead you to small hidden villages where the houses are old historic cottages with thatched roofs.
Politeness
Brits are famous for their polite manners. While now I know that "how are you" is just a throwaway greeting and not an actual request to hear about my mood.
In the beginning, it was tough to accept it.
But! It is not always a bad thing. It is a social nicety. It can help you to start a conversation, make that person feel welcome.
They are also extraordinarily apologetic, and they love overly using the word thank you and please.
Do not worry. Be happy!
This stereotype is right. Brits love to have afternoon teas with silky-smooth clotted cream on a scone while dining out or have a nice cuppa while dunking some biscuits at home.
I always have a wonderful time when I have the chance to sip a cup of tea on a rainy day. The best thing is that they do not like to rush.
They are so damn, right!
Don't stress. Be happy!
Appreciate
While the weather in Hungary is like a dream, here just rains.
It was difficult to believe for me that I could have a good day while my hair just ruined and my shoes got wet. Perhaps, this was the hardest part to look at the bright side of this weather.
However, I can honestly say it. Now I love a rainy day. Besides, gained a new addiction for Wellington boots! And!
No doubt, there is always that one day in the summer!
I'm glad you're here to join me! Don't forget to sign up to see more!
Love,
