Japanese Kimono style Gift Wrapping for Valentine’s day

Japanese Kimono style Gift Wrapping for Valentine’s day

When it comes to Valentine's day, actually any occasions I love putting thought and effort into the gift wrapping. If you follow my blog regularly, you might have seen my post about the wedding gift I have created or my ideas of Christmas gift wrapping. I carefully thought of every little detail to those presents, so of course, my Valentine's Day gift won't be created differently than that. I recently discovered an extraordinary lady on youtube who creates some amazingly wrapped presents. Her channel name is Paper Guru. She gave me the idea for this post and to create a unique gift out of this standard shaped box. I picked the classic Valentine's day colour scheme: red and white. It's mostly because I had a few leftover red and white ribbons and wrapping papers from Christmas. You don't have to follow the traditional red and white colour scheme, it's entirely your choice what colour you prefer to wrap your surprise in for your special one. So that said let me show you how to add beautiful finishing touches to your Valentine's gifts.

What you will need

Wrapping paper
Double sided tape
Scissors
Ribbons
Some decorations like nametag or coloured craft paper. I picked an "I love you" lollipop from Card factory instead of the nametag.

How to make it

1) Place your present in the middle of the wrapping paper, pull the top edge of wrapping paper over the box so that it covers two-thirds of the present.

2) Pinch the top edges of the paper and pull down towards the side of the box, pinching the edges and smoothing the sides as you go. You should now have two triangles of paper on either side of the gift.

3) Fold each triangle flap over the main body of your present, one by one, alternating sides.

4) Stick the last triangle flap down using double-sided tape. (If you have excess paper, fold the edge underneath itself so that it is flush with a box edge.)

5) Now we have only one side of the box to wrap. Fold the bottom edges in like you usually wrap a standard present.

To add a little heart to your present decorate however you wish.

I just tied two different ribbons around my gift and the folds then I tucked a lollipop into the folds of the kimono.

Would love to see how you wrapped your Valentine's day gift this year. Tag me on Instagram: @delilapipoly or comment below xx
