Wedding outfit idea for couples

Wedding outfit idea for couples

It was love at first sight..the story of how we ended up at our first British wedding. As soon as the invitation got the delivered to our door. The first thing that popped in mind was: what are we going to wear?

We all heard how this day had to be the most perfect of days. The Bride, Groom, mother of the bride, bridesmaids, old friends all try to present the best version of themselves on this truly magical day. It was my big day as well as theirs. Meeting the rest of the family for the very first time is always a big pressure. Getting to know them and letting them get to know you. I am not a big fan of first impressions as I’m really not good at it. But, I can honestly say I had one truly unforgettable day!

The most important thing I have learned during my journey while picking up the right outfits for us is that being stylish is the key to the perfect match. Don’t be scared mixing and matching. However, blending tones is often better than matching.  It is always better to be overdressed than underdressed. Two months before the wedding I  made myself a list so I could pick the right things for this day. The first choice for my dress was a Self-portrait piece. I love how this brand uses the guipure laces and frills to create something dramatically delicate. But, as much as I like the brand, their dress does not like my body shape. I needed a size 10 for my body but a size up on the upper side which then became baggy around the belly. I have no clue how that works… I soon gave up on that idea. One day, I will return, and then it will fit perfectly!. Not giving up on you so soon Self-portrait! So after my disappointment, I headed to Selfridges to do some shopping. I ended up at The Kooples where I found a navy blue embroidered midi dress. It is not a usual pick for a wedding, but I thought with the right accessories I could make it work. A Cult Gaia bamboo bag,(we don’t have to stick with a clutch, do we?) some Valentino Rockstud heels and Vanessa Mooney earrings made my day. I was half ready!

All I had left to do was find the perfect suit, shoes, and accessories for my other half. When it comes to shopping for clothes, especially for formal outfits, Carl is definitely not the perfect guy to do that with. We picked up a grey toned suit with chest patterns from Slaters, tan shoes and belt from The Luxury collection at Marks&Spencer, a knitted beige tie with a matching pocket square and a flower lapel from Frederick Thomas.

It was hard work even for me as a guest, so I am sending my respect to all the brides, grooms out there who make their magical day happen with all their hard work.
