Luxury Valentine’s day overnight stay-Peckforton castle

For the past year or two, we haven't had the chance to take ourselves out of our daily routines, press reset on our body and mind and to get into new surroundings and experiences.
When we purchased our first home in 2018, we got ourselves into a big challenge with many projects along the way, but happy to say that we are getting closer to the finish line. I mean sort of.
You can follow our journey on Instagram how we transfer this 110 years old Victorian house into our home simply click, here.

So to ultimately reflect, recharge and reconnect, we decided to seek out on a romantic escape to the Cheshire countrysides.
Back to the beginnings where we first met.
To truly live up for the romance and Valentine's day, we were looking to stay somewhere extra special.
This is how I discovered the Peckforton Castle.

Britain is so blessed with many castles often in stunning locations just like this one.
Peckforton Castle secluded in woodland gardens, boasting lush woods and forest giving us the opportunity to enjoy a leisurely pace of life.
Far removed from the stress of the city living, but also easy access back to reality.
It was just an hour drive from the bustling city of Manchester.

Once we arrived, we passed through the gatehouse lodge then drove up to the castle on a sprawling driveway which is located on top of the hill surrounded by breathtaking woods and forest.
The stunning castle has undergone renovations to turn it into one of Cheshire's most luxurious hotel and event venues.
They restored its original beauty and blended it with modern-day comforts to offer a unique blend of history, family attractions and luxurious accommodation — the perfect place for a quiet weekend away.

The history of the Peckforton castle

I was quite interested in reading on the hotel's website about the history of this castle.
I have learnt that the first owner of this incredible place was John Tollemache.
He bought 36.000 acres of land to build his dream home in 1840, which then was finished 11 years later.
The last member of his family was Lord Bentley, who stayed here until 1939.
Once he left his home here, the castle provided shelter to disabled evacuee children during World War II.
In 1952, the castle was recognised and rewarded by English Heritage when it was granted Grade I-listed status.
Later the castle was sold again in 1988 to Evelyn Graybill who converted into a hotel.
In 2006 it was purchased by the Naylor family who expanded the site to able to host weddings, business conferences and other functions.

The room

Enjoy the fairy-tale experience living like a king, surrounded by luxury, beauty and exceptional service.
Peckforton Castle offers as a total of 48 guestrooms all individually designed, blending old-world elegance with modern-day luxury. Historical artefacts and the special touches provide an experience that is out of the ordinary.
This is why it is an excellent spot to spend your Valentine's day with your special one.
This unique castle offers you accommodation in a choice of three rooms.
The Classic, The Executive and the dreamy Four-Poster room.
We picked the Executive as we were both dreaming of soaking in a traditional Victorian freestanding bathtub for a long time.
Then we woke up to the stunning views of the Cheshire countryside, which was quite breathtaking.

Food and Drink

There are two restaurants at this unique hotel. The holder of 3 AA Rosettes and a Taste Cheshire Award, the 1851 Restaurant.
The other dining place is a more relaxed restaurant where you can enjoy the classics British dishes that are made from fresh ingredients from the local farms. Called the 2010 brasserie.
You can also experience either of these restaurants if you aren't a hotel resident.
Carl and I love experimenting with food and flavours so our choice couldn't be anything else than 1851. It's featuring classical French and modern British cuisine.
We both picked the three-course option, and I can say that everything was delightful with
excellent flavour combinations.
If you ever experienced a AA Rosette restaurant, you know that the menu is usually packed with small bites, but full of taste.
As we hadn't had anything else during the day, we tripped down to memory lane and drove to the Pheasant Inn just after dinner for more food.
The Pheasant Inn always will be a special place in our heart as this was the place where we first met.

My fairy-tale princess overnight break at Peckforton castle was something out of the ordinary.
A place where we could relax in peaceful surroundings.
This was the perfect way to spend our Valentine's Day and to remember a special place.
