Rustic DIY Kitchen Trolley

Rustic DIY Kitchen Trolley

Cliques storylines with amateur actors used to be one of my favourite movies to play in the background when I was doing my homework.
Honestly, I was studying. We girls know that it's called multitasking. Am I right? 🙂
Even though after 15 mins I figured out the rest of the movie, I loved them so much that they became sort of a habit after school hours.
But not only the surprising storylines was the reason for me to enjoy every min of these movies.
The American interior design was one of my absolute favourites, actually the big American kitchens.

I'm sure you have seen minimum one movie with a huge farmhouse kitchen with a farmhouse sink, wooden beams on the ceiling, masonry walls and you captured this moment because you would have wished for to be yours.
Well, I had my moment when I was about 11 years old, and since that moment I knew that my first kitchen has to be just like the one in the movie.
Of course, the 11 years old me didn't think of to compromise with a boyfriend, consider the cost of it, or just even the layout of the kitchen.
Nope, not at all.
I just had a dream, but not a plan.

Luckily, I had enough time to figure out a plan since I was 11. We ended up buying a house with two spacious living room, and since the kitchen wasn't the right size for our dream kitchen, we decided to move the kitchen to one of the living room.
If you follow my blog, you know that this refurbishment has been ongoing for a while as it wasn't as easy as we thought it would be but as I promised before pictures will be coming soon about the refurbishment, but now let's get back to this post.

For the kitchen, we wanted that sort of American farmhouse kitchen that is fulfilled with rustic woodwork but also fused with elegance. We knew that this place would be the heart of the home, and there are a certain warmth and charm to a rustic kitchen.
To reach the same impression in our kitchen, we wanted to add as much as wooden items as possible. Like wooden shelves, wooden worktops, wood columns and some rustic timber furnishing like stepstool and a kitchen trolley.

I found a fantastic kitchen trolley in Homesense a couple of months ago, and I knew that I want one of those for myself.
To save a bit of money, I decided to do it myself, so I took a pics of it, and when I got home, I made a sketch. I ordered all my materials from Wickes and Amazon, which I will link all below.

Honestly, it was actually super easy to craft. Carl did all the hard work, like cutting everything to the right size then we screw them all together.
We started by creating the boxes.
We did three same size boxes then just screwed two planks of wood on each side.
As the last step, we added four wheels to the bottom of the last box.
Tada. Super easy right?

I was mostly the planner and the painter.
We were done with the trolley in about 1-2 hours.

We decided to go with a dark colour on all the woodwork in the kitchen, so we picked from a brand called: Colron/Danish Oil-shade Jacobean Dark Oak.
