It was about 5 years ago when we came to a decision to move to one of the largest cities of England from the beautiful countryside in Cheshire.
Manchester wasn't a pick of ours to live in, but we both got some amazing opportunities back then to start a new chapter in our lives. Honestly can say that the stunning architecture, the incredible wall arts and the unique dining venues were things that made me want to stay in this beautiful Northern city. From street foods to Michelin star restaurants, you can find everything to thrill your tastebuds.
With new restaurants and bars opening each month in Manchester it is quite hard to keep up with the latest hotspots in town.
So, as soon as I have discovered this unique and unusual brand new restaurant called Blank Canvas, I wanted to share my review with you all.
Blank Canvas is based at a prime location at the front of Printworks taking over the old Thai restaurant Busaba's place. Transforming the low-lit and comforting interiors into a quirky and seriously instragrammable affair. It also faces out on to the Arndale, which makes it the perfect brunch spot to fill you up for the next shopping rounds. Also, give us locals somewhere to head after work for some cocktails or milkshakes.
The hardest challenge during summer months in Manchester is to find a place where you can eat outside when the sun is out without being on the waiting list to get you a spot. This is why I'm so glad that this place has a huge outside seating area.
Summer is coming and if you are stuck in the city, don't fret it as Blank Canvas got us all covered.
Once I stepped inside, it was impossible not to let a little "wow" out. There's a whole new world has taken over the old design. It's colourful, it's energetic with all those positive vibes.
As soon as you walk in the front door, you will discover a tree and a world of flowers hanging off the ceiling with neon signs all over the walls. Street art and graffiti art are both featured on the walls to bring a bit of Manchester inside. Blank Canvas is for the "gram".
This place is new, unusual and ordinary nothing that I have ever seen in Manchester before because it will transform its appearance every few months during the year.
I have quoted from their website below :
"The drinks will change, the food will change, the way everything's served will change, and the decor will change. It'll be whatever we decide to do, so it could be a cuisine or part of the world or a storybook, just wherever we fancy going with it really."
Blank Canvas has definitely lived up for their first concept, which is Urban Jungle.
When I walked up to the stairs, I was pretty stunned at how fabulous everything looked. The first floor was the place where I felt the real Welcome to the Jungle. Even more, flowers hanging off the ceiling, running on the walls while the staircase is decked out to create the jungle vibe with a large number of plants. There is also an old rustic looking wine barrel and a lamppost in the middle of the floor to create plenty of snap-worthy corners to make your Instagram look cool and unique. Oh yeah, I almost forgot. They have some super comfortable Chesterfield sofas where you can enjoy a pint or two.
This place has brought an entirely new dining experience to The Printworks, Manchester.
No nonsense, Blank Canvas has promised simple, and premium quality food and that is exactly what they offer.
It is a perfect size menu with plenty to choose from plus it is created by a 2 AA Rosette standard head chef, Carl Cooper who also worked under the Michelin star chef Aiden Byrne at Church Green in Lymm.
The menu stands in food flavour with everyone in the city.
Meat lover, vegetarian or vegan you all can find a mouth-watering patty or salad at Blank Canvas. But that's not all. If burgers aren't your thing, don't worry, other meals will tickle your taste buds instead. They offer chargrilled flatbread that is made in house, ribs that braised and smoked for up to 8 hours to ensure that the meat falls off the bone, plenty sides including the cheesiest sauce on the planet (oh yummy), house-smoked wings and to top it up edible 24carrat golden wings. Oh yeah!
Also, look out for the signature Blank burger if you pop in, it is served in a smoked cloche as I said they go for the "gram".
Just to go over the top Blank Canvas has another entrance to the building. It is directly from inside of the Printworks, where you can easily order from their milkshakes if you are on the go. This has been set up. However, it is not open to the public yet.
Even though there are no desserts at Blank canvas, it's almost definite that they are not a sugar-free spot. They have plenty of that. Four different flavoured freakshakes with fresh and premium quality cakes on top if you have a sweet tooth. I'm not a big fan of sugary hits, so I missed a healthy or more fruit based shake, but fingers crossed.
So as you all know, I'm a huge list writer, so when I write a review that could not happen anymore differently than that. So let's summarize it.
High-quality food with the best ingredients. Check.
Amazing cocktails with great prices? Sure thing.
Unique and instagrammable interior.Of course.
Outside seating? Plenty.
Great atmosphere and friendly staff? Always.
Honestly can say that Blank Canvas could be called the coolest kid on the dining block in town. They thought about everything and everyone in Manchester. Not only with their drinks and food menu but also with their prices and offers.
They have 2 for 1 cocktails all day every day.
Have you ever been at Blank canvas before?
