We spend about one-third of our lives sleeping, so it supposed to be all natural and easy, right? We all hear, read from the experts that 8 hours sleep is the recommended, but how plausible is that...We all live a modern life.
When I was in school I used to be like the Sleeping Beauty, I could sleep 14 hours straight without any issue. ( i don't think that was healthy either ) But I definitely did not have a problem with it.
Since I have moved over to start a new life in a new environment my life has flipped upside down.
While I still trying to make time to relax, sleep, sleep and sleep more when I can, I have days (most of the days) when I struggle to fit 8 hours of sleep in my schedule.
We all been there before when your mind is swimming with thoughts, plans, ideas or just creating a mental to-do list for the next day. While worrying during the night will I get enough sleep if I fall asleep now? Just adds up to the problems. I really struggled to get enough sleep, so I decided to end it.
Created a new routine in my life, made time for physical activity and created my own heaven.
I know from my personal experience how hard is to fight this battle and how important is to get our blissful every night rest.
Maximising our slumber time with some few easy tricks could make a massive impact on our lives. Environment and mind are the two crucial factors when it comes to sleep.
Make your bed as your own heaven
I found this my favourite part. I love interior and when it comes to shopping for something new I'm up for it any time.
Firstly I made one big and the best investment in my life, I bought a new mattress. (to read more click here)
To protect and make my bed extra cosy I added a mattress protector and mattress topper from Homesense.
I realised that bed linens play a vital part along with the pyjamas that I wear at night. I found silk, Egypt cotton to be my best friends. Uh-they are amazing!
If it comes to a quick power nap, I still want to make the best out of it with some gentle touches like throws, cushions all over my bed.
Treat yourself as don't forget you spend third-of your life in that bed.
Create a routine
Oh, I remember high school when I had to get out of my bed 5 days a week at 5:30 am. Wasn't fun, but was easier because I had a routine in my life. I moved straight after I finished high school and I ended up in a big city in the real world. To create a routine in a lifestyle and job that I have it's quite challenging, but nothing impossible, right?
We don't have to press reset and start a brand new lifestyle, it is enough just to wake up and go to bed the same time or to try to add more physical activity in our daily routine.
Plus let's not to forget about those endorphins.
Clear your mind
No matter what is on your mind let's get rid of it. Address your distractions, turn off all your worries, thoughts and just relax.
Men would say we women like to make everything complicated. Thinking of that mental to-do list, planning, thinking of ideas, stressing over something at the same time.
These usually tend to be the distractions when it comes to trying to fall asleep at least for me.
So that makes wonder is this just a women thing, or men have the same problems too? (yeah I heard in that in my head haha)
Try yoga, meditation, or a hot, warm bath to loosen up after a long day. A hot bath with bombs,(click here to read my favourite bath bombs) oils and candles always help me to switch off.
Natural help
There are those few occasional days when I barely can have 5 hours to sleep, so I looked into something that found to be amazing when I used to work out 6 days a week. (how much I miss that I had all that time in my hand.)It helped me to boost my metabolism, support my muscles and manage my sleep at night. It's called ZMA, which is a natural mineral supplement made up of zinc, magnesium aspartate, and vitamin B6.
The one that is most worked for me is from Myportein. ( i have added a link below)
How do you manage your 8 hours of blissful sleep every night?
See you next time!
