It was a quick gateway for my boyfriend and me.
We spent five days in the cosmopolitan capital of Spain's Catalonia back in March.
It is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Spain. Barcelona is a huge city and
5 days were probably not enough time to see everything.
If you find yourself with a short amount of time to discover this fantastic city, then here some of my ideas how to do it.
Transportation:
When we landed at the airport, we were wondering around for about 10 minutes trying to figure out the metro map.
If you are like us, make sure you take a picture on your phone of this map below.
In my opinion, you do not need to spend any money on a taxi. The metro is quick, cheap and the connection is spread
all around the city.
Food:
Tapas, Sangria couldn`t be missed from our list. We didn`t plan our dining out at any particular restaurant
whenever we felt hungry just popped into somewhere.
However, one of our friends had recommended a unique cocktail bar which he described as: “ one of the best cocktail bars in the world!" He was right! If you do find yourself in Barcelona you do not want to miss The Dry Martini. The Best bar I have ever been to. Friendly staff, creative cocktails, reasonable prices for that unique feeling.
Attractions:
1)Sagrada Familia
The construction of this church started in the late 19th century when Gaudi died and still continues today.
Trust me on this; you want to spend the time to go inside. Do not let the queue scare you away from this amazing
building. We bought our tickets online, and it only took 10 minutes to wait to get inside.
We decided to extend our visit here by going up in one of the old towers. Well, it is higher than you would think. They took us to the top by lift but the only way was down is the stairs. It was around 30 minutes on an extremely narrow old-fashioned screw stairs. Scary, but fun feeling!
Attractions:
2)Park Guell
While this park is located a bit outside of the centre, it is worth the hassle to get there. Some comfortable trainers, water and a camera and I was ready to discover another one of Gaudi`s breathtaking creation. This was one of my favourite place in Barcelona.
I was amazed by the view from the top and the art in the park.
Attractions:
3)Casa Batllo
We only had the chance to see this place from the outside.Definitely, will be returning to check it out from the inside.
Attractions:
4)Market
Anytime we go on holiday the market is always on the visit list. No matter if you are looking for some street food, refreshing
smoothies or just taking some awesome pictures you will able to find all that here.
Where to stay:
We stayed at the Level at Melia Sky. The hotel is separated into two parts. The lower levels are four **** rooms and from the
The 24th floor you will enter the 5 stars luxury paradise. (definitely worth paying extra for the 5*****)
One of the tallest buildings in Barcelona.
The hotel is only a 12 minutes walk from the beach.
The hotel features an outdoor swimming pool on the rooftop, spa and free access to the gym.
The best part is the breakfast! A personal chef, including a view from the 25th floor over the city and the beach.
Wish I could wake up to a view like that every day, I am sure I would not be struggling to jump out of bed.
A perfect stay, I enjoyed every minute of it!
